Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

The end of the school year is coming quickly. Students in grades 3-6 are diligently completing the CAASPP testing.

Although the year is closing we still have a lot to do. The Mini-Olympics are coming, the Art show will be happening, field trips and Camp CIMI are rapidly approaching and of course culmination on June 9th.

I want to personally thank all of the parents, PFO, friends, families, volunteers, staff and students for yet another outstanding year. It is a privilege to be a part of such a special school.

White Point Whales Forever!

My class is so LUCKY to receive this donation!!
This listening center will be a vital part of my classroom! Supporting a wide range of differentiation. This tool will allow me to reach all my students in so many different ways. The novelty and enjoyment of hearing text will make learning fun! From the child who is developing reading fluency, decoding, or comprehension, to the students who are independent readers but could develop greater comprehension by listening to the science text on tape everyone loves being read to. Now I have the tools to do this! THANK YOU!!
I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of friends, families, and public, who have supported this effort to bring a listening center to my classroom including: my classroom head parent who spear-headed my campaign, and publicized my need to the entire school; the family business that donated a percentage of all their personal proceeds at a Family Movie Night to my cause; anonymous donators who gave from the generous spirit of their hearts, motivated to assist in the education of our young; and finally but certainly the crucial push of the umbrella of generosity and caring, our school's Parent Faculty Organization, who filled in the sizable gap in what had been donated and the remainder of what was needed.

With gratitude,
Ms. Prouty

My students need a listening center.

Total cost: $422

Listening Centers are an extremely valuable tool in allowing for differentiation of reading/writing instruction! The strong focus on non-fiction in today's' curriculum, requires students who are not skilled readers to still understand content. My Third Grade Class is in desperate need of one!

Third graders are expected to make a huge leap in their reading/writing skills, critical for upper grades. Their developmental age allows them to cognitively develop inferential, and deductive understanding, with the right supports. This is the time for of one of the greatest leaps in reading abilities! At this important young age, students are eager to learn and want to please! My class is no different! From my youthful bilingual child with emotional issues of confidence, struggling to approach grade level, to the gifted, high achiever, ready for the next step and eager for more to learn! All my students want to succeed!

Our school lacks the benefit of much financial support, not being a Title 1 school. We have a wonderful Parent Organization, donating their time and making great efforts to raise money, however we still struggle to provide critical work materials for the students, much less upgrade, or replace classroom technology. Outside financial support is greatly needed! My students need a listening center at DonorsChoose.org
